Vintage Handmade Foraging Baskets by MicMac Native American Peter Paul

Peter Paul was a fishing and hunting guide who lived in Roxbury, Maine. He was a family friend and very proud of his ash basketry skills. Peter was of MicMac Native-American descent. He made his living as a fishing guide and a crafter of single-grain, split ash baskets. He soaked and split the ash in his kitchen sink. Then he pounded the ash to get a single grain and wove the strips into baskets. These baskets were commissioned from Peter in the 1970s through the 1990s. Quantities are very limited - and are one-of-a kind.
